STORA ENSO WOOD
The task of the three cranes is to store whole CLT slabs in an interim storage area in production and also store completed CLT slabs in the interim storage area prior to shipping and loading.
They are normally transported horizontally and the slabs are lifted by vacuum.
A Voith single girder angle crane with two trolleys is used in order to have maximum flexibility for the various slab lengths. Each trolley has a reeved vacuum hanger with a large number of suction pads. This is necessary because on the one hand, a high capacity must be produced by the vacuums and on the other, many slabs have sections cut away where the vacuum has no purchase.
Due to a special design, these suction pads are automatically disconnected from the vacuum so there is no loss in vacuum power.
Where whole slabs are lifted there are no sections cut away, therefore bigger suction pads are used. This means less investment costs. Hanging the vacuum crossbeam via patented Voith inclined rope stabilisation allows accurate operations, which is required above all when loading.
