The task was to transport plates for the flame cutting centre. The specific problem lies in the fact that the flame cutting machines are installed lengthways along the hall yet they are delivered and collected at right angles to the length of the hall. Plates of various sizes up to a maximum length of 16m need to be handled.
The solution was found in the way of a Voith special magnet crane with a specific rotatable trolley. Again, two distance-adjustable standard Voith angle trolleys are built onto the underside of the trolley. Due to this design, the optimum distance between the magnets can be set to the load of plates to be lifted. Therefore a crane without protruding parts can be used to handle plates from 2 – 16m long and also rotate them in the hall.
The way the magnet is hung allows plates to be handled both vertically and horizontally. Storing the plates vertically allows direct access to the material in the tightest of warehouse spaces.
