STORA ENSO WOOD
The crane’s task is to place longitudinal layers for the production of CLT timber elements with maximum dimensions of 3 x 16m into the interim storage area.
Special vacuum suction pads lift the horizontal layers that can also cope with holes in the timber structure. The crossbeam is stabilised in both directions. The shearing guide allows off-centre problem-free loading of the crossbeam at right angles to the longitudinal length. The crane moves the slabs from the production unit to the interim storage area or vice versa from the interim storage area back to the production area completely automatically. The Voith control unit receives the tasks from the main production control system and then carries them out independently with supervision of all safety functions.
In order to be able to achieve the highest possible storage density, 9 longitudinal travel cars were installed allowing a second level in the storage area.
By moving the longitudinal cars, a path can be made via which the automated crane is able to access the lower slab stacks.
The whole unit, including the automatic system, was developed and put into service by Voith.
